A lot of dog trainers would challenge your first point on having a crate big enough for your puppy to run around it. It is generally accepted that the crate should be only be big enough for your puppy to lay down, stand up and turn around. I have found that if the crate is big enough for your dog to run around in, that it will use the crate as a bathroom. Have you had personal experiences that would refute this notion?
